Neves (ハメコミ LUCKY PUZZLE DS, Hamekomi Rakkī Pazuru Dīesu) is a puzzle game developed by Yuke's Media Creations for the Nintendo DS, based on the Japanese Lucky Puzzle, a tangram-like dissection puzzle. In the game, players use the stylus to move, rotate and flip pieces on the DS's touch screen to clear puzzles. It features over 500 different puzzles from which to choose.

A sequel, Neves Plus (ハメコミ LUCKY PUZZLE Wii, Hamekomi Rakkī Pazuru Uī), was released for WiiWare in Japan on May 26, 2009, in North America on June 22, 2009 and in Europe on June 11, 2010.

Gameplay

In each puzzle the player is given an image which they then must try to recreate using only the following seven pieces:

two identical right isosceles triangles, with sides length and hypotenuse of length

Neves (surname)

Neves (pronunciation: NEH-vEEs), is the Portuguese word for the plural form of "snow" (Portuguese: neve). It is a common surname in Portugal, Italy, Brazil, and the Spanish region of Galicia. A Spanish variant is Nieves.

Etymology and history

The surname Neves has Portuguese origin, it is also of Christian origin since the Middle Ages. According to researches, the origin of the name Neves is given by the Catholic fervor of its members and a tribute to Our Lady of the Snows (Portuguese: Nossa Senhora das Neves). Our Lady of the Snows was then the name given to a village, in the northwest of Portugal. There was a time that the Empire of Portugal spent time in Brazil to try to get facilities to spread their factories, land grants, captaincies and even provided military posts that were undertaken to defend the new earth, evangelize the Indians and mestizos, in addition to manage slaves. Historians claim that one of the first Neves family members came to Brazil in one of Portugal's most important periods.
